TRAIN - WRECK - WAITING - TO - HAPPEN

 

Part 3 - PHILADELPHIA !

 

 

When each layer of Truth is revealed, biblically-spiritual understanding grows.

 

 

Philadelphia was the sixth of the seven churches in the Book of the Revelation receiving a spiritual evaluation directly from God through Jesus Christ. 

When William Penn planned the city in Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, he envisioned it as the 'city of brotherly love'.

 

And to the angel of the church in Philadelphia, write: These things says the Holy One, the one Who is true; the one Who has the key of David, Who opens and no one shuts, and Who shuts and no one opens.

I know your works. Behold, I have set before you an open door, and no one has the power to shut it because you have a little strength, and have kept My word, and have not denied My name. 

Behold, I will make those of the synagogue of Satan, who proclaim themselves to be Jews and are not, but do lie - behold, I will cause them to come and worship before your feet, and to know that I have loved you. 

Because you have kept the word of My patience, I also will keep you from the time of temptation which is about to come upon the whole world to try those who dwell on the earth.

Behold, I am coming quickly; hold fast that which you have so that no one may take away your crown. 

The one who overcomes will I make a pillar in the temple of My God, and he shall not go out any more; and I will write upon him the name of My God, and the name of the city of My God, the new Jerusalem, which will come down out of heaven from My God; and I will write upon him My new name. 

(Revelation 3:7-12)

 

WILLIAM PENN, a Quaker, writer, champion of religious liberty, and son of a renowned English admiral, received a charter from King William 1st of England. In it, he received right to lands on the East Coast of America to establish a colony for thousands of Quaker families.

 

... [In] May, 1684, he entrusted the government to a council, and in August sailed for England, leaving a prosperous colony of 7,000 persons. In his farewell he writes: 

 

"And thou. Philadelphia, the virgin settlement of this province, named before thou wast born, what love, what care, what service, and what travail hath there been to bring thee forth and preserve thee from such as would abuse and defile thee! My soul prays to God for thee, that thou mayest stand in the day of trial, that thy children may be blessed of the Lord, and thy people saved by his power." 

 

It was historically documented. Of all the colonies, only Pennsylvania

was not involved in Indian wars. The tribal people of the area honored Penn. Because William Penn honored them. There was no blood shed there during the time of William Penn's governance of the colony. Philadelphia for a time, was indeed a 'city of brotherly love'.

 

 

Now, considering again the train derailment of AMTRAK #88 . . .   

 

The train had left Philadelphia, home of the Liberty Bell and of the

United States Constitution - 'city of brotherly love'. At a curve where the train should have been slowing down, it was speeding up. In fact, the train's speed was more than twice what it should have been in that location.

 

Remarkably, the engineer did not remember the wreck experience.

He was injured along with the others, and his memory of the event was a blank . . . nada . . . nothing . . .

 

Each of us is created with the 'safety switch' of memory loss in traumatic situations. We can only live with so much pain, whether it is physical or emotional. It happens on the personal level and on the societal level. We want to shut it off and shut it out. 

 

We want to stop hurting!

And this is where the psychiatrists, psychologists and international pharmaceutical industry make their 'big bucks'. This is where family relationships are broken. This is where communities come apart at the seams.

 

Is there a remedy?

 

'There is a balm in Gilead, to make the wounded whole.

There is a balm in Gilead, to heal the sin-sick soul.'

 

If we are honest, and if we are biblically literate, we will see powerful prophetic implications in this epic derailment.

LORD, open our eyes, that we may see!

Open our ears that we may hear,

And help us to humble ourselves before You now.

Oh God, have mercy upon us, upon America,

for we have sinned.

We have left the 'track' of your straight and narrow way.

We have forgotten You.

 

We have become a 

 

TRAIN - WRECK - WAITING - TO - HAPPEN !

 

However in God's mercy, the United States of America may yet have one more chance.

 

Let us look again at the name-designation of the derailed train.           It is AMTRAK #88.

 

In Holy Scripture, the number 8 signifies a new beginning. 

In this instance, the 8 becomes #88.

 

AMTRAK #88 rushed into an epic crash -- but there is still hope.

 

America can have a new beginning, and even as Job's losses were great, Job forgave those who had wronged him.                 Job forgave, and prayed for them.

Then God comforted him, rewarding his patience with a 

double-portion blessing in his latter years!
