of LAUGHTER,
"Behold, days are coming," declares the LORD,
"when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel
and with the house of Judah,
not like the covenant which I made with their fathers
in the day I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt,
My covenant which they broke, although I was a husband to them,"
declares the LORD.
of JOY
"But this is the covenant which I will make with
the house of Israel after those days,"
declares the LORD,
"I will put My law within them and on their heart I will write it;
and I will be their God, and they shall be My people.
Jeremiah 31:31-33 (NASB)
The LORD: the Psalmist's Portion in Life and
Deliverer in Death.
A Mikhtam
(a golden song) of David.
Preserve me, O God, for I take refuge in You.
I said to the LORD, "You are my Lord;
I have no good besides
You."
As for the saints who are in the earth,
They are the majestic
ones in whom is all my delight.
The sorrows of those who have bartered for
another god will be multiplied;
I shall not pour out
their drink offerings of blood,
Nor will I take their
names upon my lips.
The LORD is the portion of my inheritance and my cup. You support my lot.
The lines have fallen to me in pleasant places;
Indeed, my heritage is
beautiful to me.
I will bless the LORD who has counseled me;
Indeed, my mind instructs
me in the night.
I have set the LORD continually before me;
Because He is at my right
hand, I will not be shaken.
Therefore my heart is glad and my glory rejoices;
My flesh also will dwell
securely.
For You will not abandon my soul to
Sheol;
Nor will You allow Your
Holy One to undergo decay.
You will make known to me the path
of life;
In Your presence is
fullness of joy;
In Your right hand there are pleasures forever.
Psalm
16 (NASB)
It
had to be great fun growing up in David's house -
King
David of Israel, that is.
There
was always something new and exciting going on
because
David was a very special man.
David was a worshiper, living
his life in the Presence of God.
That
meant that music and dance were part of the family's lifestyle -
And
that was fun!
The
king had a very close relationship with the Almighty,
and
he wanted everyone else to know God that way too!
David
was always praying, and God always answered David's prayers.
Sometimes
God said, "NO." That disappointed the man,
but he knew that God was always
right,
and that when he said, "NO", there was a good reason.
There
were lots of other children around -
brothers
and sisters and cousins -
and
a child never ran out of playmates.
Their
mothers helped each other take care of the children.
As
long as David and the people worshiped and obeyed God,
everything went well.
During
the reign of King Solomon, David's son, the Queen of Sheba
(today's Ethiopia) journeyed
to Israel with her attendants
and visited for the better part of a year.
She
came to see for herself the beauties of Jerusalem and its Temple,
and to hear
the great wisdom of Israel's king.
"How
blessed are the people who know the joyful sound!" declares the Holy Bible.
May
our own eyes be opened to see -
May
our own ears be opened to hear the joyful sounds of God.
May
our own hearts be opened to perceive and understand that
all
scientific discoveries point to the reality of
and of His great love for us
His only-begotten Son to die for our sins.
"Righteousness and justice are the
foundation of Your throne;
Lovingkindness and truth go
before You.
How blessed are the people who know the joyful sound!
O LORD, they walk in the light
of Your countenance.
In Your name they rejoice all the day,
And by Your righteousness they are
exalted."
Psalm 89:14-16 (NASB)
